Booked!: Fernie Writers’ Series continues to bring some of Canada’s best-loved authors to our mountain town. The next author in the series is Alison Pick reading from and discussing her memoir Between Gods on October 22nd.

When 2005 CBC Poetry Prize winner Alison Pick was a teenager, she made a startling discovery: her father’s family is Jewish and they came to Canada to escape the Holocaust. Most of their relatives were not so lucky. When Pick is diagnosed with depression, she begins exploring this side of her family history. During her quest to discover a sense of self and a sense of worth, she begins to believe that returning to her family’s Jewish roots would be a step in the right direction.

Between Gods is a quietly moving exploration on belonging and self-discovery.

Held at the Fernie Heritage Library the 2014/2015  Booked! line-up is as follows: Dave Bidini (fall), Alison Pick (fall),Angie Abdou launching her new novel (fall), Amber Dawn (winter), John Vaillant (March), and Will Ferguson (May).
